This Halloween, I have decided to keep things simple and make quick and easy desserts that look scary!
Skulls and Ghoulish Jellies
This is the easiest dessert to make! The bonus is you can make the jellies the day before, let them set in the refrigerator and you just need to unmold and plate them on Halloween!
First you need silicone jelly molds – I got mine from Shein – Click the below link and go to Kitchen items and search for “Halloween”
I used store-bought jelly mix, coconut flavor and taro (the purple color is perfect for Halloween, and I love everything taro!) but you can use any flavor that you like, orange-flavor jelly would also be great for Halloween.
So the day before Halloween, I prepare first the coconut jelly according to package instructions and pour a layer (about 1/3 of the depth) in the silicone mold. Then I prepare the taro jelly and pour on top of the coconut layer and let it cool to room temperature and refrigerate. Voila, so simple right?
Bloody Hand Cherry Pie
This is a personal favorite and it’s both blood curdling and yummy!
I use store-bought pie shell crust and canned cherry filling.
Preheat oven to 350 F (190 C)
Lay the pie crust on a sheet of baking paper, if you’re right handed, put your left hand on the pie dough and holding a knife in your right hand, trace the imprint of your left hand in the dough. Repeat as you need 2 hands… Spoon some cherry filling on one hand but not all the way to the edge. Put the other dough hand on top, and seal the edge with your fingers. It’s fine if some cherry filling spills out a little, it will only make it more ghoulish…
Bake for around 35-40 minutes until golden. Decorate with some props if you like. You can also add some sliced almonds as finger nails (use the cherry pie sauce as glue). Serve warm or at room temperature.
