Cranberry and Brie Wreath

Cranberry and Brie Wreath

The Cranberry and Brie Christmas Wreath is a very popular appetizer in our family, and it’s perfect for the festive season. It’s delicious and pretty, don’t you agree? On top, it’s so easy to make with store bought puff pastry, and suitable for a small gathering (4 to 6 people).

Here’s the step-by-step guide and you only need 3 main ingredients plus optional nuts as garnish and egg wash.

Ingredients

1 roll of frozen puff pastry

1/2 can of whole cranberries sauce

1 small Brie (you can also use Camembert)

Assorted nuts (I used Candied Walnuts and pine nuts, you can also use other nuts like pistachios and cashew nuts).

1 egg for glazing.

Instructions

  1. Defrost puff pastry. Preheat oven to 400 F (200 C)
  2. Place the puff pastry on parchment paper that fit your baking tray. Roll out the pastry, and using a large bowl or a plate, trace and cut a circle
  3. Put a small bowl in the center of the circular pastry and with a knife, trace around the bowl, without cutting all the way through
  4. With a sharp knife, cut a + shape, then an x shape through the circle in the center, making 8 “slices”

5, Spread the cranberry sauce inside the circle but not all the way to the edge

6. Cut the Brie into small slices and put on top of the cranberry sauce

7. Sprinkle nuts on top of the cheese. Fold the center circle “slice” over the cranberry and Brie and pinch together with the pastry edge. Lift the pastry edge to form a raised border all around.

8. Lightly beat an egg in a small bowl and brush the egg wash all over the pastry. Use any left over puff pastry to make small pastries. I cut out Christmas Tree shaped puff pastries and filled them with left over cranberry sauce and/or Brie.

9. Put the baking tray in the oven (2nd shelf from the bottom) and bake for around 20 minutes until golden and puffy. Let cool for 10 minutes.
