Check this out for easy recipes ideas for your 4th of July celebration at home.
It would be great to express our patriotic spirit and prepare some Red, White & Blue food to celebrate 4th of July with the family.
Sharing with you some ideas to put together a festive yet fuss-free spread, combining store-bought items with a home-made touch and creative twist!
A 4th of July Luncheon
All the above dishes are so simple that there is no need for recipes.
This festive and simple July 4 lunch includes an appetiser: tri-color chips (for example Blue Corn Chips, Red Spicy Cheetos, or Red Hot Doritos, Original Potatoe Chips or Cheddar Sour Cream Chips, served with your favorite dip).
The main course is finger lick’n delicious Chicken & Waffle: You can make your own Fried Chicken or just get them from the supermarket. This egg waffle is home made for a special touch. But you can also toast some frozen waffles – Just add some maple syrup).
Side dish: Corns and hamburger egg rolls. Ears of corn with husk could be grilled on the BBQ, or just boiled, serve them with your favorite dipping sauce. For the hamburger egg rolls, I use store-bought wonton wrappers and add a simple filling of sautéed minced beef with onions, grated cheese and pickles, and wrap the whole thing up and bake them till golden (around 20 to 25 minutes in 350 F preheated oven).
For the cute and healthy dessert, use any red, white and blue fruits. Here I use blueberries, strawberries and white peaches. So refreshing and delicious!
A 4th of July Dinner
Above: I’m taking “lazy appetizers” to the next level. The chicken nuggets are heated according to the package instruction (these are bought at Costco) and are placed on top of toasted miniature waffles (from Instacart or Whole Foods). The dipping sauce is made from melted butter mixed with warm maple syrup. So tasty!
4th of July Easy Desserts
I love easy and cute desserts, don’t you? This festive dessert is super easy. I use store-bought shortcrust pastry on a baking tray, bake blind in 375 F pre-heated oven for 20 minutes. Add blueberries and raspberries or any other berries (you can even use canned blueberries and cherries pie filling). Meanwhile, use of star cookie cutter to cut 24 to 36 stars from shortcrust pastry. Place the stars all over the fruits, glaze with beaten egg, and bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350 F till slightly golden. Before serving, sprinkle powder sugar on top. This can be served as a slab pie or cut and serve individually in baking cups.
Another fuss-free yet festive dessert is a fruit salad. Above, I use blueberries, strawberries (or select any red fruit like watermelon), and canned lychees and coconut jellies (available from most supermarkets or Asian stores). Make sure to add lots of ice to keep it fresh and cool.
The above Berries cheese tart will wow your family. It takes just a little more effort, but it’s definitely worth it! It’s so delicious… For the recipe, please check my post, as well as this super easy berries tart.
